Enrico Mattei was born in Acqualagna on 29th April 1906.
The house where he was born has today become the first museum in Italy dedicated to him. Here time has stopped and preserves unseen samples of Mattei’s personal life: the last signature he made before being killed; the cork of the champagne bottle popped in February 1953 to celebrate the signing of the agreement for the founding of E.N.I which took place in Corso Venezia in Milan. There are also some personal effects such as a perfectly intact desk with his glasses, his readings and cigarette case and his fishing tackle all of which manifest what he enjoyed doing when not working.
